A Toonumbar record of 37 anglers tried for limits and qualification into the MotorGuide BASS Electric Convention. The bass, however, were tight-lipped, with only 12 legal bass making it to the weighmaster.
Skennars Head resident Paul Gray was one of the three anglers who completed their limits and his 2/2, 1.69kg bag – which included the Big Bass of 1.00kg – kept Ian Galloway (2/2, 1.43kg) and John Ski (2/2, 1.40 in the lower placings).
Gray only landed two bass from four hookups – both on a chameleon coloured Jackall TN60 lipless crankbait while casting at the weed edges at the top of the dam and slow rolling the lure down the slope. He fished the Jackall on a Samurai 5’6″; rod, Abu PGS 3600 reel, 15lb Platil braid and 15lb leader.
Second placed Galloway fished Nitro spinnerbaits – white 3/8oz models early and 1/2oz green ones later in the day. He landed 8 bass.
