Blue Fin Boats BASS Electric- Cania 4/5 Feb

BAUNACH BLITZED CANIA

Cania Dam hosted the first electric event for 2012 and the
24 anglers delivered up some great bass to the scales.

After weighing in the heaviest limit on day one,  leader Andrew Baunach wasn’t leaving anything
to chance bringing in a 1.585 kg day two limit and clinching the win.

Andrew fished  100m
stretch of bank targeting  suspended
fish  with  jackall tn60 in the brown dog color. He slow
rolled the jackall through the suspended fish  with most fish hitting the lure as it came across a ledge.

The tackle
used to amass his limit was a gloomis crank bait 783 rod with a chronach 50mg
reel spooled with 10 sunline braid and 12lb FC Rock leader. On day one Andrew
landed 6 legals with 3 upgrades and on day two he only got the two legals
but  held on for the win due to the
quality of fish he caught.
Andrew backed himself and picked up $150 and the 1st pro and said he would need all that and more to replace all the brown dog tn60’s
he had lost.

Second place finisher was myself, Chris Horne. I fished the
point at the end of bass straight. Losing some good fish early both days I
reverted to my plan B and fished ice jigs between the flooded trees to catch a
limit.  I used a Jackall chartruse and
white pyun pyun 4.5gram jig. I fished these on  a Daiwa Heartland combo with 8lb Team Daiwa braid and 8lb vanish leader.  Often fishing a gap less than 2 feet between
the trees it was a case of get the bite then worry about getting it out of
there. This approach saw me lose a few lures  but saw me boating about 12 legals for the tournament.
