ventured up the left arm of the impoundment, targeting the weed beds and edges.
Shane was using a 783 Loomis rod matched to a Chronarch 100 reel spooled with
13lb Exceed braid and 14lb Vanish leader. His lure of choice was a
Bassman Spinnerbait in the 1/4oz with a Carl skirt colour. Shane would
cast the lure on top of the weed bed and then roll it as slow as possible,
pausing and letting it flutter down the weed face, then continually
slow-rolling it back to the boat. Shane caught seven legal fish for
the session, with his first two fish being the largest.

David’s rod of choice was a 7′ Spellbinder matched to a 2500 Tierra reel
spooled with 10lb Seabass braid and 12lb leader. His lure of choice was
black and gold BJ Custom Spinnerbait. David’s technique was virtually the
same as Shane’s, with a slow roll back to the boat. David also captured a
few bass by hopping Little Max Blades off the bottom. He captured eleven
fish for the session, upgrading twice.
