impoundment is normally renowned for an early surface bite, but with the windy
conditions, most anglers opted for a different tactic.
Turner, the eventual winner tried surface early for no results. He weighed in two fish for a total weight of
2.165kg. He decided to travel up the
right arm of the impoundment to the timber line and targeted the weed edge in
about 15 feet of water. His lure of
choice was a Gulp 3″ Minnow in camo colour, weighted with a 1/6oz jig
head. Stephen cast along the weed edge,
letting the lure sink to the bottom, then slowly rolling it back to the boat,
letting it free spool occasionally, making sure the lure stayed close to the
bottom. Stephen’s success is due to the
gear he was using – a Stradic C14 2500 reel
matched to a Strudwick 1-4kg spin rod.
For the session, Stephen boated seven fish, with five of those being
legal, upgrading twice.
the ABT Electric Series, Shane Anderson bagged yet another placing by coming in
second. Shane weighed in two fish for a
total weight of 2.115kg. Like Stephen,
Shane targeted the weed edge early, but unfortunately had no success. He then ventured to the middle of the
impoundment where he found schooled fish close to the bottom on his

the bottom produced his best results. He
