Rob Cracks Cania
Rob Hinton , one of the Bundy boys, went in to the second day of the tournament with a handy lead thanks to the 1.252 kg bass he landed in the first session. Showing a clean pair of heels, he caught his limit and also a 130g upgrade on a weekend where anglers found it hard to get the bass to bite.
Rob accredited his success to downsizing to a tn50 in brown dog after only getting taps on a tn60.
of choice was a Shimano T-curve matched with a cronach reel. The reel had 14lb
Suffix braid with 14lb nitlon leader. The areas
were points and bays about 1/2 way down the dam positioning the boat in the
newly flooded timber and casting into ultra
edges. The spot where he hooked the 1.252 kg kicker was only 1.5 feet deep.
France went into the second day of fishing in second place and held his nerve
to bring home the largest bag on day two 1.587 kg
onto second spot. Stuart managed to coax a bass onto his Brown dog tn60 in the
first session fishing a steep rocky bank and
switched to Bassman 1/2 oz carl compact spinnerbaits in white and blue to bag
out in the second session. Switching lures Stuart
switched locations fishing shallow bay for the second session. Stuart used a G
Loomis SBR 811 rod with a Daiwa Alphas spooled
fins and 10lb sunline leader.
fishing partner also stepped it up a gear in the second session. Andrew Baunach
bagged out with 2 bass for 1.535 kg to end up
top five. Thanks to Andrew for transporting the kit for the weekend.
the reasons we could have such a great tournament at cania is that we have such
a great place to stay – the Big 4 Cania caravan
park does wood fired pizza on a saturday night and arranged to cook all the
anglers pizza in the last batch so that after a hard
the dam , those who chose to order pizza, had it piping hot when they returned
to camp. Behind the scenes , I was only able
the tournament because Peter from the Cania Caravan Park drove over 100km to
pick up my family, boat and myself after we had
incident with a roo. Anyone wanting to stay at the park for the next tournament
can make reservations on 1800 673 018.
also like to thank Tim Mulhall and Shane Anderson for their assistance and my
brother Jason for helping run the event.
