‘Rise – Fly Fishing Film Festival 2009′ features stunning movies from global destinations including Tasmania, India, and Russia. Gin-Clear Media’s ‘THE SOURCE – TASMANIA’ is the feature movie of the festival. Part of a series, ‘THE SOURCE’ exposes the most unlikely fly fishing destinations from around the world. This year’s film is complemented with a high-energy soundtrack delivered on a state-of-the-art digital sound system and includes well known bands from Australia and New Zealand.
When asked about the inspiration for ‘THE SOURCE’ series, the film’s director and producer, Nick Reygaert. stated: “‘THE SOURCE’ is about finding quality fly fishing destinations that are a little bit off the tourist map. Tasmania, as a fly fishing destination, has long lived in the shadow of New Zealand. While it’s true New Zealand has amazing trout fishing, we wanted to show that Tasmania, on the right day, can match it for wilderness and big trout. Also, more than a century ago, the first trout ever to be transported to the Southern Hemisphere were hatched in the Salmon Ponds Hatchery in Tasmania. The progeny from these first few eggs were then transplanted into countries throughout the Southern Hemisphere… therefore, when it comes to fly fishing Downunder, Tasmania is ‘THE SOURCE'”
Rise – Fly Fishing Film Festival 2009 will sweep Australia and New Zealand as a limited release and will stop in more than twenty five cities, including Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Darwin. With limited release screenings, Rise Fly Fishing Film Festival attracts a cult-like following and is the largest single fly fishing event in the southern hemisphere.
