Cressbrook BASS Electric Results – 15 March 2009

Overcast and comfortable conditions greeted the 81 anglers for the
first Cressbrook Bass electric for 2009. The 43 boats were launched in
an orderly fashion on the single gravel boat ramp at a dam that is at
9%. Unfortunately the comfortable conditions were not to last with the
cloud burning off by about 9.00am and the mercury started to rise.

Whilst
the majority of the competitors caught the ever present undersize bass
only 10 anglers presented 11 legal bass to the scales. Only one angler,
Charles West presented a full bag of 2 bass and took out the event with
a total of 1.275kg’s. Charles also took out the big bass at 0.875kg’s.
Charles
reported that after seeing only undersize bass being caught by casting
to the banks, he changed tactics and cast parallel to the bank. His
first fish and biggest bass took a mask vib. His second keeper was
taken on a Berkley soft plastic rigged to a 1/12oz jig head. Charles
took away a prize pack for his win and a $50 voucher from Fish N Bits
Toowoomba for the big bass.

Second placed angler, Steve
Kanowski started the morning surface fishing and landed a few
undersized bass. He later changed his technique to hopping a plastic
down a steep bank to land his legal bass.

This was my first time
at running an ABT Bass Electric and my wife, Tania and I would like to
thank all competitors for their patience and cooperation that resulted
in the smooth running of the event. – Brad Clark.
