MacDonald Elec Results 7 Sept

Ten boats and 17 anglers attended the second electric comp at Lake Macdonald on Sunday 7th sept.
Fishing was as hard as expected with the lake still recovering from the massive fish loss during the floods of last year.
Many undersized fish were caught and released, while seven legal fish were brought in to be weighed.

Fifth place and convention qualification, went to female
angler Kerrie Jones from Nambour . Kerrie weighed in a 0.607 bass caught on a TT
spinnerbait  cast to the weed edge in the Gazebo bay area. Kerrie was excited to
have qualified for the convention and hopes husband Kevin will teach her to
operate the boat in time.

Fourth place went to Dean Buchanan from Gympie. No
details are available on Deans catch of one bass of  0.657  as he had to leave

Regular competitor and qualifier Jesper Noiesen claimed
third place with a 0.766 bass caught on a Little Max 1/2 oz blade. Jesper fished
the three ways area, releasing 5 undersized bass before landing his legal

Second place and qualification was taken out by
Blackbutt teacher Paul Holmberg, with a bass of 0.791 . Paul used various
Jackals cast to the weed edge with a slow retrieve. He was armed with a 2-5 kg
Strudwick Pro rod and a Daiwa reel.

The only angler to weigh in two fish was winner Shane
Anderson from Bundaberg. Shane caught a legal bass early in the piece then found
a hot bite late in the morning. Landing a total of twenty fish, five legal and
the rest undersized, Shane used a Loomis 783 crankbait rod to cast a ghost
wakasagi jackal to the deeper water close to the weed edge in the Borer creek
bay area.

Allowing the lure sink down the face of the weeds then a
slow retrieve was the successful technique. Shane also took out the big Bass
prize with his fish of 0.879kg

At the presentation, anglers enjoyed the regular sausage
sizzle supplied by local stocking group president Jim

All present agreed that a 6.00 am start would be
preferred for next years Maccas comps to take advantage of a good early surface

Organisers Mark Pertot and Mal Favager are more than
happy to be there early to get things happening.
