Round 4 Lake Glenbawn
58 teams arrived at Lake Glenbawn
to compete in our round 4 event.
The weekend started off on Friday night with the briefing where Carl ” Knuckles ”
Jocumsen spoke to the competitors about
teqniques that he would be using over the weekend. Carl and his Motley crew of
Ross Murray, Dave Melrose and Matt Anderson drove down from Toowoomba to
compete. It was great to have the boys there as they added a fair bit of spice
(I mean spite) to the event. The old NSW / Queensland rivalry was very evident.
There were 259 fish caught over the 3 sessions with an
average weight of 7.58kg. The fish weren’t big but very fat. With the rise in
water levels and the increase in weed beds and food the bass have been feeding
up. Give Glenbawn a couple of years and consistent water levels it should be
back to its former glory days.
Champion team for the weekend was Team Loomis consisting of Mick “Hat Town
“Pascoe and Luke Goodworth who fished for schooled fish all weekend. Their teqniques
were to use ice jigs up around the boot area. ‘The fish over the last couple of
weeks haven’t left this area’ Mick said, ‘so what a great place to start’. Mick
and Luke started there and finished there scoring themselves 2 Lamiglas
Certified Pro baitcaster rods from Blue Acres, 2 Tackle packs and $ 500.00 in
Second place went to Team Backlash, Toby Wilson and Sean Revell from Wee Waa who also fished
towards the back of the dam and also targeted schooled fish. The boys opted
though to jig evergreen blades and slow roll gulp jigging grubs in watermelon
colour. For their efforts they received $ 400.00 in gift vouchers from
Australian Bass Angler and Sports Fishing Boats Australia, Tackle packs and $
300.00 in fuel vouchers.
Third place went to Team Fish N Bits, Carl Jocumsen & Ryan Jones. Ryan’s Brother Jack also
fished with Carl in the second session. Carl and the boys were leading at the
end of day 1 with a total of 8 fish caught but couldn’t hold on in the last
session to clinch victory. They got their 4 fish but just didn’t have the
weight. They were mainly working edges using plastics and Jackals to get their
limit. Gift vouchers from Australian Bass Angler and Sports Fishing Boats
Australia, tackle packs and fuel vouchers went their way.
Champion Junior went to the ever consistent Alex Fowler. Alex received a Humminbird shirt from
BLA, A Lamiglas rod from Blue Acres and a tackle pack. The shirt was also
signed by Tim and Carl. Thanks Guys.
Champion Female angler was Kylie Cornish who received gear from Wilsons Fishing and Megabass.
Big Bass went to Daniel Quarmby from Orange in the third session with 1.21kg.
