17 anglers fought it out at Lostock with 4 qualifying for the Motorguide Convention.
It’s that time of year again for Lostock to dish out its
fair share of
frustrations and with tough fishing the week before at
Rnd 3 of the BASSIN
series, expectations were at an all time low!
All up 7 fish from 17 anglers were presented for weighing
with Dave “Kiwi”
Trinder’s 2 fish 2.85kg bag taking first place. Dave
elected to fish the
dirty water (thanks to a record flood four weeks prior)
and scored all his
fish on Jackall TN60’s. “The big one came off a school
when I vertically
jigged the Jackall in 30ft of water” Dave explained
talking of his big bass
winning 1.66kg fish. All up Dave caught 4 legal bass.
Second place went to a previous Lostock top five place
getter, Gavin Baker
with two fish for 2.41kg. When quizzed, Gav said he got
both fish on Kokoda
vibe’s cast to the bank, the larger of the two fish had
him bricked around a
dead tree, “When I eventually got him up it was just
barely hooked in the
pectoral fin” Gav added.
Third went to another highly successful Lostock angler,
Mick Pascoe who
fished his signature technique all day, casting deep fly
adjacent to a rock
wall for two bass, 2.1kg limit.
Mark Gogarty rounded out the fish catchers with one bass
for 1.2kg, adding
that it was good to qualify for the convention after
missing out by only a
matter of grams for the last two or three years.
