While heading up the winding pot holed road to Lostock I was hoping that this little dam with a
reputation of being a tough fishery was going to change it ways and look after
us this weekend, letting go of a few of
her monster bass that we know live there.

When arriving at the camp ground and setting up the marquee
with Justin and big muddy I headed down to the dam to have a look . What a
beautiful dam , lots of fishy areas ( Snags , weedbeds , rocky banks ) How good
did it look. You would think that every cast would produce a fish. After
talking to a Brendan and Luke from Dean
City Boys who caught a 40cm 2.4kg Bass
on prefish and Brad Turner from Team Nomads with a 40cm 1.8kg Bass my hopes
were high for a great weekend.

Well how wrong was I. Apart from camping at a beautiful
location , enjoying the fire and some great company, Lostock lived up to her
reputation. But then again a fishing weekend is not all about lots of fish and
big bag weights, or is that just
something we tell ourselves when we have had a tough weekend.

37 teams competed with only 9 teams catching fish. No
juniors or any female anglers caught fish either so this report will be short
and sweet.
3 teams were reasonably happy though.

1st place went to Steve Richards and Nathan Weathered from Team Koolabung
Lures . The boys caught there fish by trolling little deep divers around the
edge of weed beds. A total of 5 fish for
5.5kg. They received 2 Lamiglas Certified Pro spin rods from Blue Acres and tackle packs for their efforts, along
with 100 points towards the AOY tally.

2nd Place went to Mick Pascoe and Joel Norman from Team Loomis. Most of their fish were
caught on deep fly . Mick nearly didn’t make it to session 3 on Sunday after
making a pest of himself around the fire on Saturday night and upsetting his
partner Big Joel who after copping a couple of chairs over his swag while
trying to get some sleep got a bit upset with Mick . They kissed and made up
though to take out second place. A total of 4 fish for 4.84 kg. Mick and Joel
took home $ 400.00 in gift vouchers from Australian Bass Angler and Sports Fishing Boat Australia ,
along with tackle packs.

3rd Place went
to Joel Smith and Wes Smith from guess who, Team Smiffs . A total of 2 fish for 2.2kg. The boys took
home $ 300.00 in gift vouchers from Bass Angler and SFBA along with tackle
packs.

Big Bass went to Justin Scott with a 1.57 kg Specimen. He
took home a Patio heater for Big Bass.

The fisheries guys who attended on the weekend would like to
that all those teams that participated in helping them out with their research
. All fish remained healthy, with a slight concern over the water quality of
some of the live wells. The best live well is a well that has been plumbed so
that water can flow through. So maybe those teams without flow through wells
could have a look at this.

I would like to thank all those teams who attended the
Lostock weekend especially those that braved the windy conditions on Sunday
Morning.

See you all at Lake
Glenbawn on the 26th and 27th July.
