12th & 13th April saw 52 teams
converge on Lake Glenbawn for round 2.

18 new teams were signed up at the Saturday night briefing
with the majority of those never fishing a tournament before , but with a quick
rule and safety rundown and a word from our major sponsors for the night ,

,everybody headed off back to camp in anticipation of the next days event .
The weekend saw a lot of small fish being weighed in with a
good few anglers heading out without rulers in their boat , then coming back
with undersize fish. Big Mick was onto this though with plenty of Fisheries
stickers being handed out before session 2.
Only one team caught their full bag 12/12 limit for the weekend. Team
Savage’s Jade Cornish and Craig
Robertson, fished very shallow weedbeds , throwing silent Jackalls with locked up drags. The fish didn’t
start to bight until the shallow flats started to warm up Craig said . The boys
persisted in the same spot all weekend catching a lot of fish and getting
smoked a good number of times. Other competitors called in to visit through out
the weekend but after only catching weed
they decided to moved on. But the Savage boys stayed, pulling off weed
and caught fish. Craig and Jade received 2 Lamiglas Certified Pro rods from
Blue Acres and $ 500.00 worth of fuel vouchers.
2nd place saw a couple of old timers in Greg Parkes and
Steve Almond ( Team Just 4 Fun ) take
out second place. The boys mainly fished for deep schooled fish , finishing up
the weekend with 10/12 limit . Every time we called past to see how they were
going they said that they were doing it tough but at the end of each session
always came back with a good bag. ( Sly old dogs ) Steve and Greg received $
400.00 in gift vouchers from Australian Bass Angler and fuel cards for the trip home.
Champion Junior was 13 year old Alex Fowler from Orange who caught his
fish throwing Surface lures. Alex jumped in the boat with ABT regular John
Brider ( Team Tenessee ) who came down
from Brisbane
to fish the event and the boys finished in 3rd place.
Champion Female Angler Veronica Fowler survived the
weekend, fishing with husband Matt ( Team Family Fued ). Veronica took home a Wilson Live Fibre rod and
2 nights accommodation in one of Lake Glenbawns cabins donated by Glenbawn State Parks.
Big Bass went to David Mudd with a bass of 1.2 kg and took
home an outdoor patio heater for his troubles.
Although the fishing was once again pretty tough , the weather was good and the days were absolutely
fantastic. Hope to see everyone at
