A chilly and windy morning greeted 62 anglers for the first Electric event at Hinze Dam.

This being the first event run from the Eastern intake tower at Mudgeeraba we were all wondering how it would pan out. First off as an organizer of the event I would like to thank each and every entrant for there patients and good manners on a boat ramp which could have caused a lot of trouble. As true spirit and understanding of manners and ramp etiquette saw 37 boats launched in quick time to assure a 5.30am start.

Most events at Hinze saw 80 percent of the field make the run up the Western arm and I for one was waiting to see how this effected the field. The wind scared a few people off the water early with no fish to weigh in and as the cut off time came closer anglers were starting to filter in with there fish.

Out of the 62 anglers 60 Bass were bought to the scales. The winning angler Jason Lynes weighed in 2.56 Kgs and also nabbed Big Bass with his kicker fish of 1.83 Kilo of healthy looking Hinze Bass. Jason fished North of the start area and used all techniques to fill his bag but the Big Bass came on a Jackall Tn 70 .

2nd place angler Paul Phillips with 2.5 Kgs and 3rd place getter Graham Dodds weight of 1.95 Kgs these two anglers fished together in the same boat and headed straight for there hot spot known as Steve’s Point. Here Paul snared one of his larger fish off the surface and the rest fell to a Nitro 3/8 ounce spinner bait in Ayu colour. Doddy’s cast the same Nitro spinner bait to the edges of the freshly covered grass to fill his bag. Filling out the top five places were 4th Ian Moss with 1.62 Kgs , and 5th Dean Wilson with 1.6 Kgs.

Thanks must go out to the great support of the sponsors for all the prizes without these the event would not be possible . With the response from anglers at the briefing the next event in August will be run even if the new ramps are not ready. And not to be forgotten a big thanks to ABT for there donation to Australian Bass Assoc stocking group.

Cheers and tight lines Tony Payne
