Lake McDonald BASS Electric Results- 2nd September

After the heavy rainfall of the previous week, the dam
losing a huge amount of big fish over the wall, and the water being very dirty,
it was always going to a tough day on Lake Macdonald. Twenty one anglers took up
the challenge on a windy but sunny day.

A few anglers gave up early (probably due to it being fathers day) but most
stayed out for the full six hours. However, only four small bass were brought to
the weigh in.

Forty year old Shane Anderson made the trip from
Bundaberg to take out first place with two bass weighing a total of 1.25kgs.
Shane also took out the ‘big bass’ prize, a pair of Spotters sunglasses, with a
fish weighing a whopping 600g’s.

Fishing an area called the 3 ways Shane used a
G.Loomis 783 crankbait rod and Shimano Chronarch 100 spooled with 10lb Fireline
and 17lb Vanish leader. Casting a TN60 Jackall Brown Dog up into the shallow
water and slow rolling it through the weeds, Shane landed his two bass early in
the session.

Hans Jensen used a Loomis GL3 and Daiwa Team X reel
with 10 Fireline and 12lb Vanish leader to catch a 500g bass off the ‘Gerrys
Run’ area to take second place. He also cast into the shallows using an Aruku
Shad Jr by Raymack vibration lure.

Burpengary’s constant Convention qualifier Dale
Ianna took out third place with a 400g bass. Dale borrowed an Ecogear CK40
cranbait lure off a mate at the comp and caught his fish from almost right
under his mates boat! There is a moral in there somewhere.

As always the ‘Maccas’ comp was a fun day for
everyone especially the ‘donutters’ that won the remaining two prize packs in
the lucky draw.

A big thanks once again goes to Jim Park, president
of the Lake Macdonald stocking group who gave up his fathers day to cook a
sausage sizzle at the weigh in, which was much appreciated by the hungry
anglers. Thanks also to all competitors for making it a great day.
